Quick recap. As of now, the dates are 24-25th of April. So I imagine the plan would be to drive down sometime Friday (early birds pick the campsite), and then drive back Sunday afternoon. Is that the general concensous?

Does anybody know if we need to get any kind of special ORV tag or permit for our rigs to do the Tillamook run? If so I need to get on the ball.

Yes you need a permit, $10 with info and maps. You can either get it the day of down there, or call this number...

Or you can order by phone!
If you cannot find a location near you, you may call 1-800-551-6949 and purchase your ATV permit over the phone using Visa or MasterCard. Please have your make, body style, VIN number, personal information and card information available.

All the info is on the this link http://www.oregon.gov/OPRD/ATV/Permits.shtml

So here's what I found out for those who are interested in the Oregon ORV tag issue. Talked to Oregon Parks and Recreation Dept ATV Program at 800-551-6949. You give them your name and VIN# of vehicle, can pay with a card over the phone. They mail it out to you same day 1st class mail to your house. Cost is $10 and is valid for 2 years. Or you can pick it up in Oregon at their office same day you apply for it. You can also buy a Washington OHV tag for your vehicle in town but it costs $14.75 and is only valid for about 2 months. So the oregon tag is the better way to go.

Doesn't matter how you get it, just get one. Both times I have been to Tillamook I have run across the trail cops, both sheriff and Oregon forestry cops. And they do check for stickers.
